Pullip Face Up: Matte Sealant

I finally was able to get some supplies to start on my doll. I went looking for matte sealants because you need to prep the plastic so the paint can stick on to it. Also, you need it so when you are finished the paint won't get scratched off.

I went to Michael's and found 2 different ones by Krylon. One said Working Fixative and the other said Matte Finish. Couldn't decide which was better so I bought both. I will use the first one as the base since it talked about you being able to work over it after you apply it. The other one says matte finish so I will use it when I am done.

I sprayed the face plate and the back plate along with the eye lids with the working fixative. I can definitely see the difference after spraying it. Takes away all the shininess and definitely gives it a rougher feel so the color pencil or chalk can grip on to it. If you don't have it the plastic is too smooth and the paint won't hold on to it.

One big tip I will give to anyone is to definitely make sure the surface is clean before spraying. I had a few fuzzies stuck in the fixalant that I had to pick at to get out. -_-. It was a pain and you scratch the sealant so then have to respray. Make sure everything is super clean before doing this. Also, DO IT OUTSIDE! Don't inhale those fumes!

The sealant felt dry a few seconds after spraying so I thought it would be a good idea to start painting in the eyebrows. Not a good idea either lol. One eye brow was coming out okay but the other was not cooperating. Not sure if it was the color pencil or the sealant was not dry enough.

I resprayed the face because I sort of wore off the sealant from erasing the eyebrow so much. I will let it dry over night and will pick it up again tomorrow. Maybe it will go better then.

XOXO,
Lina
