I boarded the plane and went to my seat in between two men. I really wished I had the window seat but they were charging $29 for them. I first told my husband to pay it but then at the last minute told him not to and to only do it for the flight coming back.
So I take my seat and we don't speak a word to each other for about the first hour. I pull out a book my dad gave me and begin reading. A few minutes after the flight attendants pass by offering drinks. The man near the window seat asks for a drink and I pass it on to him.
Since I had pulled the headphones I had on while I read to pass him his drink he takes the opportunity to do small talk. Started off with what I was traveling for and what not. I told him what I did for a living and the man got excited. He told me we need lots of educated minorities and that he was proud of me for my accomplishments:) For the next 3 hours the man and I continued to talk.
The reason I put the title of this post "What are the odds" is because truly what are the odds that I will sit next to a man that has experience with businesses at the same time when I have decided that I am going to start my own business? I wish I could write on here everyday we talked about but it is just so much. This man was a multimillionaire that was retired and now traveling the world investing on start up companies or ideas he felt were worth it! I mean come on..was this not meant to be? He usually travelled in first class but made a last minute trip and ended up in the main cabin. I almost told my husband to change my seat!!!!
Hearing this man's accomplishments and stories truly motivated me and showed me that I have what it takes to start the business and getting going. He was super excited for me and he said he wants to hear from me in the future and hear that I did it!
In a time which is so critical and scary because you don't want to fail on something that is such a big deal I got to hear from a man that has done it time and time again. I was motivated before to succeed but now I have an extra boost.
I shared everything we talked about with my husband and he can't believe it. He was like it was meant to be for you to sit in that seat and meet this man. He gave me excellent advice and told me to never hold back. To get to know the system, get in it, and beat it from with in. That I will have many barriers put in my way but I am educated and that is something no one can ever take away from me. The inly thing that can hold me back is myself. I will go as far as I push.
Ahh I can't get over how awesome our conversation was. He even walked me through how to patent my ideas which is currently the process I was researching. What gets me excited is that without telling him what I knew he told me to do exactly what I was already planning on doing.
I now know I am on the right path for getting this business started. I have found extra motivation to make this happen. I was working a lot on getting this business started already. Time to take it to the next level! ;)
XOXO,
Lina
