Pullip Update: Makeup

I was finally able to sit down and work on my pullip doll again. Ever since the camping trip my schedule sort of went out of wack since I pretty much lost my weekend to get stuff done at home. It was good that Friday I got to take some time off which helped me get back into the swing of things.

Yesterday I cleaned up around the house a bit but then decided I really wanted to work on the Pullip again. I have been looking in Pinterest for inspiration and just couldn't wait to work on her. I brought all my things into the now cleaned up office and got to work.

Last time I left off with having done her cheeks, eyebrows, and a bit of eyeliner. I continued working on her eyeliner and adding lashes and what not. I will say that I made SO MANY mistakes it is not even funny. But bare with me, it is my first time doing something like this and I am learning as I go.

The eyelashes were a nightmare lol..I first tried using my brush with the shortest bristles. -_- Yeah that didn't go well. Luckily I had another brush which has longer bristles and that seemed to work better. I managed to get lashed drawn on her. Am I happy with them? Um NO. But it is good enough for now.

It is kind of hard to get the lash thick at the base of the eye and then taper off at the end. I kept getting paint globs at the end of the lash which would infuriate me!

Another thing I had trouble with was drawing the eye crease line over the top of the eye. I have seen other Pullips with it and it looks beautiful. Yeah..about that. I drew it on and erased it so many times that it left a stain on her. Ughhhhh...I brought out flesh colored paint to cover it up but it turned out that it was completely the wrong color! But I was too far deep into it now. That paint was not coming out so I ended up using it as like an eye shadow. The paint didn't go on super smooth because I kept messing with it and the stupid lashes but again, it is good enough.

The only thing I am super happy with are the eyelids. I brought out a copper paint that I had around and just slapped that on the eyelash part of the mechanism. It came out beautiful. Then I added the lashes which I had bought from walgreens and cut up to fit her eyelid.

I didn't have crazy glue or any other type of glue around so I used my glue gun. I hope there is enough space between the lash and her eyeball so she can wink without interference. *Clearances...I wonder how they come up with the clearance measurement for the eyelids. ahh my mind just went into engineering mode with that one lol*

Here she is somewhat assembled. What do you think? I know she isn't perfect but I think she is just fine for my first Pullip MIO.

The final thing I am working on are her pupils. OMG this is another disaster lol. I need to look up some tutorials on how to do this. If not I will have to order premade eyechips. She is going to have blue eyes..hopefully they turn out okay.

I will try to finish her today. I am really anxious to just have her fully assembled. I know I have quite a while to go with that since she also needs a wig. That will be another adventure on its own I am sure.

Stayed tuned for more update on her.

XOXO,
Lina
